What cannot be imported into Ukraine
GMOs, as well as products made with their use, pesticides and agrochemicals that are not registered in our country, cannot be imported into Ukraine. When crossing the border in vehicles, they must comply with Euro environmental standards (at least the Euro-2 standard). At the same time, there may be a full tank of fuel and 20 liters in a canister. At the same time, it is prohibited to transport leaded gasoline and lead additives to it.
It is also prohibited to transport electric fishing rods, mononets for fishing and hunting traps, which are prohibited by law, across the border.
Goods manufactured in the Russian Federation, as well as publishing products from Russia, Belarus or occupied territories are prohibited.
Without special permits, it is not possible to import objects of the animal and plant world that are under threat of extinction, as well as products made from them.
It is prohibited to transport weapons and ammunition, narcotic and psychotropic drugs, highly toxic substances, as well as radioactive and explosive substances across the border.
Also prohibited are printed materials, films, photographs, video recordings and other materials that contain propaganda for war, racism, racial discrimination and genocide, or are aimed at undermining the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
It is not allowed to import goods that violate intellectual property rights and cultural values that are wanted.
What goods and items are subject to restrictions
It is allowed to import goods (except for excisable goods) into Ukraine, the total value of which does not exceed the equivalent of 500 euros and their total weight does not exceed 50 kg, as well as cash currency in the equivalent of up to 10 thousand euros (if more, it must be declared in writing at customs).
What goods and how much can be imported without tax:
- Personal items (clothes, shoes, toiletries, etc.)
- Camera, video camera - 1 piece each
- Smartphones and laptops - no more than 2 pieces
- Individual medical products (wheelchair, etc.) - 1 piece
- Sports equipment per person
- Medicines for personal use no more than 5 packages (if they do not contain narcotic substances)
- GMO-free products worth no more than 200 euros per person (no more than 2 kg of each item)
- 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco, or a combination of these products with a total weight not exceeding 250 grams
- 5 liters of beer, 2 liters of wine, 1 liter of spirits (with an alcohol content of more than 22%)

What will happen if you violate customs rules
For minor violations of customs rules, a person may be issued a warning about the inadmissibility of such actions in the future. They may also impose a fine, the punishment is for persons over 16 years of age. Moreover, being held liable for violating customs rules does not exempt the specified persons from the obligation to pay customs duties and other taxes and fees.
Failure to declare currency of 10 thousand euros or more entails a fine of 20% of the amount, according to the official exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine on the day of committing the violation of customs rules. And if a person does not declare goods that he is transporting across the border, a fine of 30% of the value of these goods will be imposed.
Commercial goods that are hidden from customs control can be fined 100% of their value or even confiscated.
